Nutrition in Pregnancy…

Lately I have been seeing a Nutritionist for our family, and it has been incredibly eye-opening learning how deeply our body systems respond when we are nourished with the right ingredients and support.

When our bodies are supported at their optimal best, we often see the ripple effects not only physically, but emotionally and mentally too.

It really got me reflecting on nutrition in pregnancy and how much our overall wellbeing can influence fertility, pregnancy, birth and postpartum recovery.

Pregnancy nutrition doesn’t have to feel overwhelming.

Simple, mindful choices each day can gently support both you and your growing baby throughout pregnancy.

💧 Staying hydrated helps support energy levels, circulation, and digestion.

🌈 Eating a colourful and varied diet can provide important nutrients to support your body and baby’s development.

🍇 Washing fruits and vegetables well helps reduce exposure to unwanted bacteria and contaminants.

☕ Limiting caffeine intake during pregnancy is recommended to support a healthy pregnancy.

🥓 Avoiding deli meats and highly processed foods can help reduce certain pregnancy-related risks like salmonella and support overall wellbeing.

💊 Sometimes supplements such as iron may be recommended during pregnancy when additional support is needed (guidance is recommended).

Small consistent choices can have such a beautiful impact over time ✨ As a midwife and birth educator, I am so passionate about supporting women holistically through this journey. Sometimes the smallest changes in nourishment, rest and care can have such a profound impact on how we feel as mothers.

Pregnancy and postpartum are seasons where women deserve to be deeply nourished too ✨
